If you become a necessity to someone else's life, you are out of God's will. As a servant, your primary responsibility is to be a "friend of the bridegroom" (3:29). The web site isn't the best designed but understanding how Theophostic Prayer Ministry works will help a lot in your ministry. It is a good tool to have in your tool box. Reading the online portions of Healing Life's Hurts is a good introduction to the method.
Dr. Karl Lehman's web site has a lot of articles that are helpful in understanding and integrating Theophostic and James Wilder's Life Model.

SPECT and the Future of Mental Health web audio by Dr. Daniel Amen
Dr. Amen compares a psychiatrist who treats a patient without looking at a brain scan to a mechanic who diagnoses your car without opening the hood. Brain scans consisting of measurements of blood flow and activity level can reveal evidence of drug abuse, exposure to environmental toxins or brain injuries. These scans, combined with extensive personal histories, can reveal many possible issues that might affect the success of psychiatric treatment...
(This audio is a good introduction to Dr. Amen's work. He has a lot of valuable information in his books and videos. Unfortunately, sometimes he uses offensive language. I would recommend reading more of his work, especially his books on Attention Deficit Disorder. Most libraries have at least one or two of his books. Dr. Amen believes that most mental disorders originate from biological causes. Instead I would suggest that many times it is spiritual issues that have a biological impact on the brain.)

Spirit-Controlled Thoughts and Memory Vital Signs News Letter by Dr. Jacobson
One afternoon, sixyear-old Johnny meandered into the kitchen where his mother was busy preparing dinner. As he walked by the stove, he noticed a pretty blue light dancing on the stove’s surface. He could not resist putting his finger into the intriguing blue circle. But as soon as he did, he realized why his mother had warned him against doing so, as his fingertip experienced a severe, burning pain. Years later, Johnny could still remember the event, but he could not remember the pain.
Jack also burned his finger on a stove. But his memory is much more painful—not because the burn was any worse but because of the context in which it happened...

You will never see yourself or creation the same way again... (Scroll down to the bottom of the page.)

Keeping a Journal web article by Ronald Klug
What is a journal? A personal journal can be a tool for self-exploration and discovery, as well as a safety valve for the emotions. It can also be a place to find clarification, resolution, spiritual resources, and the self-affirmation needed for courage. A journal is not a subsitiute for people and our need to communicate with others, but it can become a friend and a confidant.
